Celeste Gunderson was a graduate student in the Geography Department who joined the GLUE lab in fall 2022. Her research interests centered on how commodity agriculture affects forests and biodiversity in the tropics, and her master's thesis focused on oil palm expansion and deforestation in the Peruvian Amazon. Prior to starting her graduate program, she earned her BA in people-environment geography and environmental studies from UW-Madison. In her free time, she enjoys reading science fiction and adventure books, camping, and going on bike rides and long walks around Madison.
