Lucas Palomino

Lucas holds a degree in Computer Science and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, he was living in Bogotá, Colombia before relocating to Wisconsin in 2021.

His work focuses on developing geospatial tools and data systems to support high-impact decision-making in land use, sustainability, and environmental planning. His past projects include building an open-source tool to automate cropland change maps across the U.S. and creating a land suitability dataset to predict native tree reforestation sites in Brazil using machine learning.

At GLUE, Lucas will be conducting spatial analysis and dataset development to support research focused on land conservation and ownership in the United States, and sustainable cattle supply chains in Brazil and Colombia.

In his free time, Lucas enjoys working out, cooking, reading, speedcubing, and ice-skating.
