Bruno Castro Lacerda is a PhD student in Science Communication (CALS) and Environment & Resources (Nelson Institute) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Originally from Maranhão, in the Brazilian Amazon, his research explores how science communication can strengthen environmental policy, bioeconomy strategies, and public engagement on climate change. He joined GLUE Lab in 2025.
Before starting his PhD, Bruno worked as the Policy and Incentives Manager for the Americas at Conservation International, advancing initiatives on REDD+, carbon markets, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable land use. He also served as Deputy State Secretary for Territorial Development in Maranhão, Brazil, where he led policies to improve livelihoods in low-HDI municipalities. His broader career bridges communication, environmental governance, and international policy, with experience collaborating with governments and organizations across Latin America. In his free time, Bruno enjoys traveling, reading about politics, playing volleyball, watching soccer, and playing trivia, where he puts his random knowledge to good use.
